It is not uncommon for a patient to show up with a chipped porcelain veneer. Of course one option is to replace a veneer with a new one, but often for reasons involved with the money or time that may require, patients are happy to have a repair done with tooth colored composite material. Often this option can provide a long lasting and esthetic result at a fraction of the cost.

The procedure involves preparing the fractured surface with either a sandblaster or hydrofluoric acid to create a porous surface that can be bonded to. Afterwards the surface is rinsed and dried a silane coupler is applied for 60 seconds. At that point bonding primer and composite can be applied and set with a bonding light. The result below was accomplished with careful finishing a polishing in less than an hour.

Cosmetic Dentistry Tip: Whitening teeth can be an easy and affordable way to improve your smile. This can be accomplished in as little as one hour and half visit using our Zoom Advanced Whitening System. Tray bleaching is often used as an adjunct to further whiten the teeth after the “Jump Start” that a Zoom treatment provides. Also trays are an affordable way to touch up your bleaching. Trays are usually worn over night and touch ups are accomplished in as little as two nights treatment. If you are interested in whitening your teeth call our office and set up a consultation appointment in order to find out more about the procedures available and whether one of these is right for you.
